F.L.A.S.H. Mob Event (Sunday) 10/16/11!

Posted by Mecca Sharrieff in Water on
On October 16th, 2011, on the lawn of the Leon Sullivan building at 1415 N. Broad Street from 2pm to 6pm, Phresh Philadelphia is teaming up with OIC of America, the 100 Black Men, United Philly, Brick Bandits Entertainment, Party and Krusherz Entertainment, to facilitate a free youth event that will show youth the power of education, humanity, entrepreneurship, and unity. Through working with OIC of America, we’ve brought back the FLASH initiative, which was started in the 1980′s by OIC. The word “flash” means Future Leaders Advancing Self Help, but when most people hear or see the word flash in conjunction with Philadelphia teenagers, they often carry a negative connotation we call flash mobbing. What we’ve decided to do is change that. Through this event and many more like it, we are going to change the image of flash mobs in Philadelphia from its current negative symbolism, to one that means young people are the future leaders advancing self help.
